Delta (yrs 10-13)

This term sees a new-look Delta schedule, with the "normal" altogether Delta meeting happening on the first and third Wednesday of each month. We meet from 7.45 -9.15pm every Wednesday during term time in the upper room of the church hall (use the fire escape!). Delta is an informal, friendly group aimed at encouraging Christian young people to live for Jesus, but also helping those who are interested to find out more about the claims of the Bible (for more info, why not look at what we're all about). This term we'll be looking at the book John wrote about Jesus.

The rough guide to an average month is...

1st Wednesday - altogether Delta

2nd Wednesday - mini-d

3rd Wednesday - altogether Delta

4th Wednesday - Wednesdays After Eight

Mini-d

Mini- d's are back this term! Every second Wednesday of the month boys and girls split and meet in leaders' homes where they share food, do a bible study together, and spend time getting to know one another better through socialising and generally having a laugh together. Mini-d is also a great chance to encourage and help one other to apply the bible to our lives. This term boys are meeting at 6pm at 56 Fox Lane and girls at 6.30pm, 25 Carlton Road. More info on what's hapening when can be found in the ultimate guide above, or contact Dave.

Wednesdays After Eight (WAE)

On the last Wednesday of the month this term is something new. Wednesdays After Eight will consist of a short talk on a specific topic or issue with the next two talks on "halloween" and "heaven and hell" and guest speakers James Hills from All Saints, Preston and Scott McKay from St James', Chorley. The evening will run from 8 - 9pm, including the talk and time before and after to chat (and maybe eat After Eight mints!). For more info on what's on when see (yep, you guessed it), the ultimate Delta guide at the top of the page.

Socials

These happen about twice a term and involve things like 'fantastic Friday fun fest from four', bowling, film nights and shopping.

Our next social is wednesday 28th May...click here for a form with the information!

Delta Prayer Breakfast

A chance to meet right at the start of the week (and I mean the start!) and have breakfast and pray together as Christians. We meet at 7.45am every Monday (during term time) at 56 Fox Lane. We eat toast and drink tea, coffee and the occasional HOT CHOCOLATE (for some reason we have to shout those words) before praying together and then heading off to school or college.
DPB - if there's a better way to start your week I'll eat a fruit salad!

Footy

Has now kicked off again!

If you're skilful, talented, athletic, fast, powerful and sharp shooting then perhaps you're too good for the footy sessions we have! But whether you're a Pele, or you've got a big belly you're welcome to join us at either of the two sessions. We play at Leyland Motors (Lancashire FA) from 9pm-10pm every Tuesday or 7-8pm each Friday.

It's a chance to have a competitive yet friendly 6-a-side football match where you'll get to play with other young people and other more experienced (which is a polite way of saying old and slow) men from church and their friends! And you may even get to skin a leader, brilliant!

The current cost is £2, bargain!

Delta Drop

Sunday afternoons when I was a lad were pretty pants. The weekend is more or less over, Monday is lingering around the corner like a bad smell and my mum would listen to Barbara Dickson and John Denver records all afternoon (I haven't got a clue who they are either!). I hated Sunday afternoons. Perhaps your experience is similar (apart from time with Barbara and John).

Well despair no more! You no longer have to endure Sunday afternoons, you can enjoy them! Delta drop is at a whole new location this term - 5 'til 6 at 56 (Fox Lane). Join us to chill out, play silly games, eat toast and have fun socialising before wandering down to church at 6. Drop in to the drop and brighten up your Sunday! :D

one2one

If you're in the 6th form and are keen to get even more stuck into the Bible then a one2one might just be the thing for you.

A one2one is simply a chance to meet with a leader (probably over food and at a time that suits you) to get to grips with God's word, learning how to handle it for yourself and how the whole thing fits together. For more info just contact dave.

Summer Venture

Every year a group of us go and join a whole load of other young people and leaders at a place called Maidwell where we have some top teaching, a load of laughs and make some fantastic friends. For more info why not go to www.ventures.org.uk or read some of our delta-ite reviews from this year.

Amanda (Frazzle) Simpson

Camp this year was really good and I really enjoyed spending time with loads of like-minded people. The best thing I think was the teaching that we got.

In the evenings we our meetings looked at 1Peter, during the day we could go to different seminars which were focused on specific things, and in the morning meetings we discussed questions in our dorms as well as studying Mark in our dorm times.

A massive bonus for me was that I met some really great people especially the girls and leaders in my dorm and I got to spend time with the rest of delta as a ‘delterite’ before I leave for Uni.

Maidwell was a very inspirational experience for me and it dramatically helped me with my faith in Jesus and helped me to progress with the road that I want to go down. I will definitely go again because if it answered all my questions this time what will happen next time??

Phil Wynne

This year was my first CYFA camp, and it was amazing. It was really encouraging to see people our age from all over the country coming together to look at God's word. There was all sorts of teaching going on - we looked through the book of 1 Peter in the evenings, had discussions and seminars on lots of useful topics in the day, and even did small group bible studies in Mark BEFORE BREAKFAST!

It was a great opportunity to meet other Christians, make new friends, and to encourage and support each other in the Christian faith. One of the verses we studied, which stood out for a few of us, was 1 Peter 3 v 18 - a great reminder of the good news and the living hope which Christians have. I am sure everyone who went this year really enjoyed the experience, and I for one am definitely hoping to repeat it next year.

"For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God"

(1 Peter 3:18)
