1 Church - 5 Congregations

We are one church, but we meet in 5 congregations. Though our congregations meet at different times, in different places and are different in style, the emphasis in all our meetings is the same: we gather to hear God speak to us through His Word, the Bible. He speaks to us to equip and edify us, we speak to Him in prayer and song, and encourage each other as we meet together. Often the sermons and talks given in our meetings follow a series, and work through a book of the Bible. All our talks are recorded on CD and can be ordered (please click here to view the sermons and talks page).

Book of Common Prayer at 9am (in the church building)
This congregation enjoys a quieter and more traditional Anglican service, using the 1662 Book of Common Prayer, and is popular with many older people. At least once a month we remember Jesus’ death for us as we take bread and wine.

St Andrew’s @ 9am (in the church hall)
St Andrew’s @ 11am (in the church building)

Although these congregations meet at different times (one after the other) and in different venues, the teaching is the same and meetings are similar. There is a mixture of young and old attending, a blend of older hymns and modern songs, and the first part of the service takes into account the fact that children are with us. Later the young people go out to Sunday Club in the Church Hall for their own teaching and activities. There is a staffed crèche where parents are free to leave their babies and younger toddlers. Coffee and tea are served at the end of the service. Once a month there is a service for all ages in which the children take part, and once a month we share the Lord’s Supper. A Leadership Team assists David Gibb in pastoring each congregation.

St Andrew’s @ Wellfield School
This is a new congregation meeting at Wellfield School on a Sunday at 5pm. Meetings are relaxed and informal, last for an hour and a half, and have been described as ‘church without the fuss’. There is teaching from the Bible, for both children and adults, which is down to earth and practical, good food, interviews of people’s testimony to God’s work during the past week, prayer and discussions/questions and answers. Mark Simpson leads this congregation. There is also a new website - http://www.standrewsatwellfield.org.uk

St Andrew’s @ 6:30
All ages attend this congregation, but there is a growing crowd in their 20s-30s who enjoy a more relaxed and informal meeting. The music is contemporary and there is slightly deeper Biblical teaching. People tend to remain afterwards, chatting over tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Once a month we take bread and wine remembering Jesus’ death on the cross for us. This congregation is led by Paul Bye.
